The Dallas Chamber Choir, founded in 2014 as a 501c3 nonprofit performing arts organization by its Artistic Director & Conductor, Jon L. Culpepper, is a professional chorus of 24-30 singers who are classical musicians, music educators, and solo performing artists from North Texas. Its performance programs are diverse and expansive, covering over 500 years of choral literature of various stylistic, linguistic, and cultural significance with emphasis on composers whose music and texts explore a decidedly humanistic perspective.

The choir was co-winner of the 2019-2020 American Prize in Choral Performance, Professional Division, and has been lauded by TheaterJones for presenting programs characterized by “engaging cultural blends, ebbing in and out of moments of high intensity and tender introspection,” with a sonority that “pours out like honey, with a protracting thickness of texture.” It has been featured on the GRAMMY-winning Houston Chamber Choir’s “With One Accord” podcast (episode 97, 2021 January) and has collaborated with Hans Zimmer and Ramin Djawadi, score composer of the “Game of Thrones.”

Dallas Chamber Choir released its first professional recording of Mozart’s “Requiem” (2019), performed Brahms’ four-hand piano transcription of his “Ein deutsches Requiem,” performed at TCDA and national ACDA conventions, and will be making its Carnegie Hall debut on June 25, 2023, presenting Mozart’s “Vesperae solennes de confessore” (“Solemn Vespers for a Confessor”), K. 339.

The evening was filled with elegantly flowing melodies, carols and spirituals all wrapped in richly textured production. The music was sung with absolute purity of tone, perfection of intonation, and depth of feeling.
